Artificial intelligence trends 2020

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

These days, artificial intelligence is everywhere we look. And with more and more exciting breakthroughs emerging each year, there are already some pretty amazing results to show for it.

Now, we’ve rounded up some of the hottest artificial intelligence trends for 2020:

1. More accurate healthcare that is less costly The main impact of artificial intelligence will be on transforming healthcare workflows to help both the healthcare workers and the patients. Data will be acquired in real-time from multiple channels of information (health records, admissions, use of equipment, staffing) before being interpreted in a meaningful way to help increase efficiency and reduce costs. What will this look like? Think automated reporting, optimised scheduling, simplified diagnoses and predictive allocation of healthcare workers to patients.

2. Facial recognition appearing in more places Most of us will be familiar with facial recognition to some degree, whether that’s through unlocking our smartphones or logging into our banking apps. However, it’s set to become a lot more commonplace as both private and public organisations are adopting it for surveillance purposes. It can help to track the location and movements of individuals and is already in place across several airports.

3. AI in the workplace When it comes to the workplace, chatbots and virtual assistants will continue to be rolled out to help improve customer service. Other developments will see AI go from identifying trends to making intelligent decisions via workflows. For example, as well as predicting consumer behaviour, artificial intelligence will also be able to support business decisions in real-time by utilising a wealth of up-to-the-minute data and analysis. This means more of the manual work will be covered, freeing up employees to focus on other tasks.

4. Enhanced personalisation As well as delivering personalised experiences and recommendations, artificial intelligence will help to make this even more streamlined with the ability to accurately show the wants and needs of a customer in real-time as they move through online channels and apps. This means that businesses can very quickly predict what a customer will want and when they’ll want it. They can then react to this by providing personalised messages at exactly the right touchpoints with ever-increasing accuracy.
